The Bangs Trade Secret

  • DuckDuckGo: 3 results. It seems to ignore stars: and struggles with long operator chains.
  • Bing: 2 results, both outdated. The stars: filter effectively didn’t work.

Query: "recette tajine poulet facile" (French for “easy chicken tagine recipe”)

  • Google: 7 French-language recipes from reputable sites. Correct regional results.
  • DuckDuckGo: 4 French recipes, then generic “tajine” pages in English.
  • Bing: 2 French recipes, then an Amazon listing for cooking pots.

Winner for weird queries: Google, by a significant margin. But Bing surprised me on the archive-specific query. DuckDuckGo consistently struggles with non-English and technical queries.

Privacy and Data: The Numbers You Can’t Ignore
